BETAMOUSE #50 – Shootin’ Fireworks

Episode 50 chronicles the plight of two struggling photographers trying to properly use their ND filters in the Vacation Kingdom. We’re lucky enough to have Cory Disbrow from WDW Photography and Tom Bricker from TouringPlans.com. We talk about photography related to fireworks. Enthusiasm rocks, woo!

Once again Tom Bricker delivers! Thanks for contributing to a very humorous and semi-informative podcast. Listening to the gang while cleaning my lens filters was a very good use of my time.

I’ll be sure to check out WDW Photography @ http://www.wdwphotography.com/ for the best info one can find to treat the affliction of being an obsessive Disney Photography buff.

  • I never commented last time Cory and Tom were on, but I was also among they many they inspired to upgrade. Picked up a Canon Rebel XTi. I know it’s an introductory model, but it’s already changed my life and I have yet to even take it to Disney.

  • Great episode once again!

Nate was asking about researching the recommended settings for certain scenarios. I’ve installed an iPhone app called “PhotoCaddy”, and it’s a database for all kinds of scenarios. I haven’t used it a whole lot, but it is handy to have it on my phone when I need it.

  • I’m a Betamouse newcomer and absolutely love the podcast. My trick with fireworks is a long exposure (8 seconds or more) and cover the lens. Uncover the lens when you want to capture some fireworks and then cover it again. Repeat when you see a cool burst. This allows you to pick and choose which bursts you want to have in the shot instead of taking in everything that’s there in those 8 seconds which is generally too much. I have some examples of Wishes shot at f8 at 8 sec. with 200 ISO on my website http://www.johnfrostphotography.com and more on my Facebook page. Keep up the great work and I’m really looking forward to catching up on the old episodes.
